Only a matter of hours after it was officially revealed that Melanie Amaro had inked a $5 million recording contract with the folks at L.A. Reid’s Epic Records label, it appears that Chris Rene is also going to be getting his chance to shine.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “X Factor” third-place finisher is set to sign a deal with Reid in the coming days — though it will not be anywhere near as valuable as what Amaro received. In addition, Josh Krajcik and Astro are expected to sign with Sony Music — a label that Simon Cowell is working with through his Syco Entertainment. If this turns out to be true, it’s actually a bit surprising that Astro would not sign with Reid’s label.
Here’s what a source close to the situation ahd to say about the signings:
“The star power is there for a number of them — they’re relevant, contemporary recording artists with great chart and radio potential.”
